Bright notes of pepper and ginger punctuate our smooth and robust Kenyan Black Tea, while subtle hints of cardamom and clove round out this vibrant blend. 

Now for a bit of history on this new blend: 

"Chai," or a spiced tea, is often thought of as hailing from India and indeed, it is. But spiced black tea also has origins in the Swahili Coast of East Africa!

Today the Kenyan coastal culture reflects this layered past and it is reflected in the traditional spiced tea and coffee. This is our take on the coastal chai, but made with the bustling city of Nairobi in mind--the trading hub of Kenya.  Enjoy this blend steeped in history.

Each box is adorned with a unique piece of art handmade by women in western Kenya. Every label is made using dried bark from banana trees and handmade paper. Inside the box is a small twine or bracelet, made from recycled magazines and dried bark from banana trees. 

Ajiri aims to create employment for women in Kenya. Ajiri employs 60 women to handcraft each and every label for the tea and coffee boxes using dried bark from banana trees. The award-winning tea is handpicked from small farms in Kenya. 100% of the profits from the sale of Ajiri products go back to Kenya to pay school fees for orphans.
