Rescue Story: Sasha was living as a pet in a Bronx home before her rescue. She was brought to the Refuge after her previous owner contacted TCWR
President, Tanya Smith. Through a joint effort between the sanctuary, the Bronx Zoo, the Humane Society of the United States, the NYPD, the
Department of Environmental Conservation, as well as having the full cooperation from the previous owner, Sasha is now safe at her new forever home.
Sasha appeared to be in good health upon arrival. She is fully-clawed and quickly grew comfortable in her new environment. After quarantining in the
Jackson Memorial Veterinary Hospital, she was released into a grassy habitat. She adapted wonderfully and enjoys spending her days shredding
everything in sight. She’s a vocal animal, who enjoys chirping and “purring” at her caregivers.

More About Sasha: We attempted to introduce Sasha to our other cougar residents, but it is clear that this sassy cat prefers a more solitude life. To make
her more comfortable and minimize her stress, we moved her down to Rescue Ridge where she can enjoy the peace and quiet of our onsite retirement area
closed to the public. She’s a vocal animal, who enjoys chirping and “purring” at her caregivers. At the same time, she loves to hunt and stalk!
