Rescue Story: Turpentine Creek traveled to Upstate New York to pick up two tigers and two leopards in need of a home. Rayn and the other cats were coming from a privately owned zoo that had been shut down in 2007 for financial reasons. Turpentine Creek staff members Scott Smith and Emily McCormick made the long drive to New York; 1,450 miles each way, pulling into the closed zoo on Monday, May 12, 2008. Rayn was very difficult to load, and required sedation for the safety of all involved. Since her relocation she has actually displayed a very sweet disposition and is openly receptive to staff care.

More about Rayn: Rayn is a very sassy cat that loves to interact with staff by stalking them and flirting with them, especially when she is in heat.  Originally, she has a large habitat on our tour loop. But, in a traditional sassy fashion she never went out and used it.  When we moved her down to Rescue Ridge, she became much more active in her quiet, flat grassy habitat.
