Rescue Story: Whistler, a 10-year-old Serval with a docked tail, was privately owned prior to being confiscated by the Colorado Game and Fish
Commission. This timid serval, along with two others, was released into the wild by his former owners who felt they could no longer care for them.
Unfortunately, the others were never found. Whistler survived having discovered a helpful neighbor who was willing to feed him for a short time.
Eventually, he would be transported to the Game and Fish Department’s Rehabilitation Facility, where he stayed for several weeks before being
picked up by the TCWR team. On February 8th of 2017, Whistler finally arrived and was placed in the night house of our large serval habitat and
slowly introduced to the group.
More about Whistler: Despite sharing a habitat with other servals, Whistler thinks everyone else's food is. In fact, we he is such a food thief that we
have to monitor the servals throughout feeding. For the most part, Whistler is a loner and likes to keep to himself while intently watching from a
distance.
