Rescue Story: In December of 2009 TCWR received an email from a man representing a facility formerly open to the public.
It explained how the facility had to part with seven big cats, a black bear and a coatimundi, in order to be eligible to reopen to
the public. Because accessing Tsavo would be challenging, the decision to anesthetize him and physically carry him to the
rescue trailer was determined to be the safest for all involved. Three hours after our arrival, Tsavo was safely loaded into the
rescue trailer along with Sugar Bear and Magic. Upon arrival to his new “forever” home Tsavo immediately found his place
and can now be routinely heard joyfully “singing” with the other lions in caroling sessions!

More about Tsavo: Has historically been the most vocal and playful male lion to call the Refuge home. He like a variety of
enrichment, especially cardboard boxes, and in general loves to play when he is not napping on his bench.
